<p>Channels is a convenient app that allows you to watch live TV alongside your other apps. With the use of an HDHomeRun TV tuner, you can easily play, pause, and rewind local or cable TV directly on your Apple TV.</p>

<p>If you are a Channels Plus subscriber with DVR Service, you can find the free app called Channels: Whole Home DVR to enhance your viewing experience.</p>

<p>To watch live TV on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with Channels, you will need an HDHomeRun networked TV tuner. Below are some features of Channels:</p>

    <li>Browse what's on other channels while watching TV</li>
    <li>Manage your HDHomeRun devices from Channels</li>

<p>Please note that Channels requires modern iOS devices and 802.11AC wireless for HD streaming. Supported devices include all iOS devices with an A7 chip and up.</p>

<p>It's important to note that Channels does not support Picture in Picture mode on the iPad or AirPlay on any device due to the video format provided by the HDHomeRun tuners. This is an iOS limitation.</p>

<h2>Why Use Channels?</h2>

<p>Channels is the perfect addition to your streaming setup. If you primarily watch content through streaming apps, Channels allows you to finally enjoy live TV, including sports, award shows, local news, and other live events, all on the same device.</p>

    <li>Access Netflix, Hulu, Movies, Games, AirPlay, and now live TV all in one place</li>

    <li>Enjoy TV anywhere in your home - from the porch to the kitchen - with Channels following you around</li>

<p>An HDHomeRun is a simple TV tuner that broadcasts television over your home network. Channels then streams that video directly to your device. Here's how to set it up:</p>

<ol>
    <li>Connect an HD antenna or cable to your HDHomeRun</li>
    <li>Plug your HDHomeRun into your router</li>
    <li>Start watching live TV through the Channels app</li>
</ol>

<p>Here are some tips to help you make the most of Channels:</p>

<ul>
    <li>Select your favorite channels by going to the Settings tab and tapping on a channel</li>
    <li>Use the On Now tab to quickly see what's currently playing on your favorite channels</li>
    <li>Tap on a channel for more information or simply 3D Touch it</li>
    <li>The live TV buffer lasts for approximately 90 minutes, depending on your device's available storage</li>
    <li>Swipe right to skip ahead 30 seconds; swipe left to skip back 7 seconds</li>
    <li>Double-tap with two fingers to switch to the previous channel</li>
    <li>Swipe up or down on the Quick Guide to see what else is on your favorite channels; tap to change to that channel</li>
</ul>

<p>All HDHomeRun devices are supported by Channels:</p>

    <li>HDHomeRun ORIGINAL (blue and white tuners)</li>

<p>Please note that DRM protected streams are not currently supported by Channels, and the app only works within your home network and not outside of it.</p>
