Channels is a convenient app that allows you to watch live TV alongside your other apps. With the use of an HDHomeRun TV tuner, you can easily play, pause, and rewind local or cable TV directly on your Apple TV.

If you are a Channels Plus subscriber with DVR Service, you can find the free app called Channels: Whole Home DVR to enhance your viewing experience.

To watch live TV on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with Channels, you will need an HDHomeRun networked TV tuner. Below are some features of Channels:

Please note that Channels requires modern iOS devices and 802.11AC wireless for HD streaming. Supported devices include all iOS devices with an A7 chip and up.

It's important to note that Channels does not support Picture in Picture mode on the iPad or AirPlay on any device due to the video format provided by the HDHomeRun tuners. This is an iOS limitation.

How Does It Work?

An HDHomeRun is a simple TV tuner that broadcasts television over your home network. Channels then streams that video directly to your device. Here's how to set it up:

1. Connect an HD antenna or cable to your HDHomeRun
2. Plug your HDHomeRun into your router
3. Start watching live TV through the Channels app

How Do You Use It?

Here are some tips to help you make the most of Channels:

• Select your favorite channels by going to the Settings tab and tapping on a channel
• Use the On Now tab to quickly see what's currently playing on your favorite channels
• Tap on a channel for more information or simply 3D Touch it
• The live TV buffer lasts for approximately 90 minutes, depending on your device's available storage
• Swipe right to skip ahead 30 seconds; swipe left to skip back 7 seconds
• Double-tap with two fingers to switch to the previous channel
• Swipe up or down on the Quick Guide to see what else is on your favorite channels; tap to change to that channel
